Hope for Haiti

It's hard to believe its our last night in Haiti. This week has been unbelievable and today was just the cherry on top. This morning, Sean taught a group session of CPR at Cedan and it was so neat to hear that the Haitiens were so excited to learn! The rest of us went to Mirdage's school and it was so special. The children all sang us songs and we jumped rope and played soccer with them all morning. Seeing what God has accomplished through Mirdage in her community was truly inspiring. She invited us into her home and served us cake before we left, which was such a special moment for her to share her home with us. After we headed back to Cedan, where we said goodbye to ourtranslators and security staff. They have been a joy to work with this week! This afternoon we had our debriefing team meeting and it was really interesting processing our week together as a team. At devotions tonight, we had a great time discussing our whole week experience and what we will take back home to share with all of you! Please pray for a safe and hassle-free travel day tomorrow!
In wrap up, this week has been incredible! God has had His hand on us every step of the way and His faithfulness has been overwhelming! We're already talking about all the things He is planning for next year and we know this will continue on for His glory and for the people of Haiti! We want to thank you for all of your support and prayers as we could not have done this without a faithful community back home. As this trip concludes we look forward not only to the hope of Haiti, but also to the Hope that The Lord, our God, brings new to us every day!
Blessings,
The Haiti Mission Team

Last Clinic Day

It is now Thursday night and our last day of full day clinics have come to an end. Today, we were ready to be adventurous as we set up our clinic in a location we had never been before. While it was small, we  managed to get it up and going. It was actually on the grounds of a school and we had so much fun seeing the children. They were all dressed up in pink uniforms and sang and clapped for us as we walked around to the different rooms.  They were so sweet!
It was a neat moment to listen to Pastor Ryan open up the clinic today and tell the Haitiens that,"we hope to help heal your physical body, but we also want you to know the healer of your soul". It really hit home all that God has been accomplishing this week both physically and spiritually among the people we've been blessed to serve. We've enjoyed having some great worship time in devotions the past few nights, which has been a wonderful way to decompress. We'd love prayer for just a successful day tomorrow visiting the school and that the kids would feel our love for them and Christ's love for them! Wishing everyone well back home!

In the Jungle of Haiti

Today has been another great day in Haiti! We arrived at our clinic and were welcomed by a few wooden/straw make shift huts. It took a little bit longer to set up, but we got on our way. Creativity became our best friend as we stacked suitcases to use as examine tables and turned our guys into full on surgical clinic! As the sun beat down, we all worked hard and were able to treat over 230 patients. Today was one of the harder days, but we came out successful at the end of the long day! Kairos (God) moments for today that were discussed at devotions are for the healing of a little boy who was able to get signed up for a nutrition program and also how God is working through our team here in Haiti to bring both physical and spiritual healing. Please keep us in your prayers tomorrow as we head into our last clinic day, that we could reach as many people as possible with God's healing love!

Another Successful day Haiti!

It's been another great day in Haiti! We went to our second clinic today, which was a little bit farther away from Cedan. The set up process went smoothly and the clinic went up without too big of a glitch. Today we broke our record and saw over 250 patients! It was such a blessing to be able to help so many people!  It was a long, hot day, but so worth it! Back at our hotel tonight, we got a pool side dinner complete with twinkly lights and a live band! It was so beautiful! Prayer requests for tonight are continued health and enough sleep for the team and praise reports for the healings of people back home and for all of the luggage finally arriving! Tomorrow we're headed to the "jungle clinic", so there is sure to be many adventures to come!

1st day in the Mission field

Today was our first medical clinic and it couldn't have gone better! We were up bright and early for breakfast and devotions and then headed off to Cedan. The people were there waiting already and we all worked to set up quickly. While it was chaotic in the beginning, everyone got into the flow of things by mid morning. Overall we saw almost 200 people go through our triage, dental, providers, pharmaceutical and surgery stations. One great moment from the day was watching a 16 year old boy get a mass removed from his head the size of a baseball. He was such a trooper through a difficult surgery (all done under just local anesthesia), while Doctor Dan did a brilliant job. After he was finished, his local pastor and family gathered around him and sang praise songs at the top of their lungs. It was truly a moment of God's glory and love. When we got back, we all unwound by the pool and just got fed a great dinner! We have devotions in a little bit, which have turned out to be a very special time in our day.  Then it's off to bed to rest up for clinic again tomorrow! Prayer requests would be for the rest of our luggage to make it in tomorrow, health for the whole team, for our friends and family back home, the start of our clinic tomorrow and diagnosing all the patients!

At the heart of Haiti

Well our second day in Haiti has been a memorable day in Haiti for multiple reasons. We started off the day at the Cedan church service. It was a beautiful service filled with the local choir and sermons from both Pastors of Cedan and Pastor Ryan. We all enjoyed sharing in Christian fellowship with our Haitien brothers and sisters! Afterwards, it was a few hours of hard work unpacking and setting up the clinic for tomorrow. For lunch, Fabienne said she had a little surprise/thank you for us. We went up through the hills of Haiti and down the other side where we ended up at a beautiful hotel on the beach. We enjoyed a very delicious hamburger lunch and then headed to the beautiful beach. We all spent time relaxing on the beach and some of us even jumped in the water! Overall it's been a great day seeing some very great (but different) parts of Haiti!
Blessings to all,

Arriving in Haiti

After our short overnight in Miami we finally landed in Haiti this afternoon! Travel today was great! We got a bigger jet than expected and the views from the plane were spectacular, as we crossed over hundreds of islands and clear blue sea. We landed in Haiti mid-afternoon and after a while spent in the airport, we made it through with all of our bags, except for a few personal bags that got left behind in Miami.  They won't be here until Monday and everyone is being a great sport about it! The bus ride through town was neat to be introduced to Haiti and everyone who's been here before says its  this is the cleanest they've ever seen. Our hotel is gorgeous! It feels like we have our own little Haitien resort, which none of us were expecting(such a blessing)! We unloaded and then had a 4:30 pm lunch! We got a taste of some authentic Haiti food and were introduced to Haiti by Fabienne (our local facilitator and close friend). After lunch, our Pignon travel group arrived back home(with some crazy stories I might add) and for the first time our group is totally united and ready for this week! Enjoy the pics!:)
